The Kovacs Brothers

I finally bought myself a full frame camera. Thought it was time to start playing with the big boys. After thinking about buying a used Canon full frame or even to switch my gear to all Nikon stuff after the release of the Nikon D800 I finally decided to stick with Canon. I ended up buying the Canon EOS 5D mark III and I don't regret my choice at all. It's simply a dream to shoot with.

I needed an inspiring project to be my first for this camera so I talked to Michel Kovacs about doing a photo session in his music studio. There is a lot of fun equipment to be photographed and I think I got some really nice shots. Surely I'll want to shoot some more someday as there is way more to shoot than I had time for.

If you want to listen to some of the music that is produced my Michel or the Kovacs Brothers in this studio you can listen to them either on facebook, spotify or subscribe to their youtube channel where you'll find a lot of remixes.

Until next time enjoy the photos and the music.

Good light to all!

Mixed emotions of autumn

I've been looking forward to writing this post, I had so many things to say and thoughts to share, but for some reason I find it hard to get started this time in particular.

It has been nice to have time to focus on my photography this autumn since I feel like I wasn't able to this summer. I've been experimenting a lot and to be honest most of it have failed. It doesn't really matter though, the important thing is that I've been learing new things, what works and what doesn't. The fun part of learning new techniques is that you never now what the end result is going to look like. Most of the time it doesn't even come close to what I had in mind and sometimes it's just mother nature that doesn't provide what I was hoping for. Lesson learned, nature can never be taken for granted. If you're shooting nature, landscape or photography in general you'll need patience, persistency, being in the right place at the right time and of course a bit of luck to get the photos you want. The truly amazing thing about photography is that what ever you photograph is a moment that can never be captured again. If it's leafs that are caught by the wind, or the ripples on a lake, raindrops falling hard, snowflakes slowly melting, the smile of a loved one or the look on someones face when a doctor is telling them they got a incurable disease. It doesn't matter what it is, but if you capture that moment it is yours to keep forever and that photo can never be reproduced. I think that is a fascinating thing about photography.

The mushroom hunt!

A while back I went with my friend and his girlfriend to Svartedalen, it's a nature reserve nearby where we live. Our mission was to find some mushrooms, a certain kind, you know what I'm talking about.... Cantharellus cibarius of course ;) it's commonly known as the chanterelle, golden chanterelle or girolle. In swedish it's called Kantarell, in german it's Pfifferling and in slovenian it's Lisičke. Anyway I wasn't very helpful with the picking of chanterelle beacuase I had a new lens I wanted to try out. I had bought a Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 L USM lens, it truly is an amazing lens and what better object to try it on than some nice little mushrooms. The reward for all this was that my friends cooked a really nice mushroom pasta afterwards. Well, that's it for now. later this week I'll post some pictures from this autumn and our weekend in Söderåsen national park.

Västkusten!

This summer a friend and I decided that we would go on a day trip along the west coast. It was a really good day and I got some photos that I like. All of them might not be a masterpiece, but they'll show you what our beautiful coast and fishing villages looks like. Feeling slightly uninspired to write today so I'll let you enjoy the photos instead. :)

Be well folks!

Hands of an artist

This summer I had the privilege to try the art of painting. I was given the opportunity to share the experience with my girlfriend who is an amazing artist. If you'd like to see her artwork visit her at www.emeliearonsson.com. We gathered all the stuff needed to start painting, headed down to the lake, put all of our stuff on the grass and started creating. I'll admit I felt a bit lost at first, but after she gave me a few pointers on what and how to do I got right into it. It was a lovely summers day, it felt like true joy and playing with colours like that made me very happy. You know.... it was one of those days that you'll cherish and remember. While we painted I felt it would be a great opportunity to shoot something different so I got a few photos to share this moment.

Stockholm, Gamla Stan.

Why not surprise and be quik on my next update, I have some photos from Gamla Stan in Stockholm (the old town). I've spent some time in the capital this summer, to be honest it was only my third visit ever when I came to Stockholm in the beginning of summer. We spent a lot of time walking around and I really do enjoy the scenary, it's a beautiful city. Though I find it hard to capture it on film I got some really nice photos from Gamla stan that I'd like to share. Not sure when I'll be coming back, but sometime I'd like to shoot some portraits in this part of the city. It was a very inspiring place to be walking around and imagine what different kind of photos I would be able to shoot there.

Be well folks! :)
